Sorry the day was 4/19
Got to Teaches about 1 am and fired up the grill and cooked some sausages and drank a couple coronas before hitting the bed around 2. Woke up to a fairly stiff breeze and a grouchy woman inside Teaches. Man oh man she's got her panties in a bunch! Once we got situated we proceded out the inlet and were greeted with "sporty" conditions running the the temperature break. Put the lines in at 73* water and instantly had two gaffers come up. Missed the bite on one and stuck cold steel to the other. Then it was on...The weed shagging party we had been invited to was in full bloom! We finally came up on a concentrated weed line in around 150 fathoms with lots of fliers and bait. We hooked a couple peanut dolphin and Rudy was in the tower started getting antsy, swears he was seeing dolphin everywhere and sure enough about 200 came to the boat. We bailed them, I mean worked them over real good. Thought we had 40 fish but final tally told us 43. Oh well, they will not be wasted. We released at least 20-30 more! At 12:30 we decided to get jiggy wit-it. Got to the spot and two dropped jigs and two dropped cut bait. Both jigs doubled over instantly. 2 aj's released Bottom rods were catching vermillion snapper, rock bass, aj's, triggerfish, and blue runners. Well everyone wants to start jigging so we do, 4 jigs down 4 lines comeback up cut completely clean! We'll stick with just two jigs working for now. We end up catching some decent kings up to 31 pounds! Alex drops down and is cranking up a decent aj when the rod bows over and the fish multiplies its size emensly! About 15 minutes and a severe ass whooping to the shark it was boat side, at least 250lb dusky, pictures taken and released! On the way back in we hooked onto vtfisher's Grady White and tugged him in a couple miles, guess he had fuel problems... They said they were hungry so we began to throw pieces of fried chicken back to them and they ate like kings! Drumsticks throw much better than thighs I guess more aerodynamic! We had made a few phone calls home and told everyone we had one in tow and were gonna make sure they got in even if it took us until the next day, those guys were gonna get back in! All in all, a rough start to the morning but we caught a boat full of fish and helped out a buddy. High fives and smiles all the way home!
Final tally:
43 dolphin with 20-30 released
5 vermillion snapper
1 FA released right into the mouth of a hungry ass shark
2 Blue runners
3 Kings Mackeral up to 31 pounds with paper for Rudy
1 250# dusky released with paper for Alex
1 AJ brought home and about 15 released
Couple Triggerfish
1 Grady White, fought her for a while, but had to pass her over
Back at the dock we talked with the guys that lost their fishing partner, very frightening to say the least! Said the CG came out to meet them but they were making faster head way than te CG could so they were told to proceed with him. I couldnt even imagine!
