Takin' some kids out this weekend and would like to target some fish with consistant action and fun fighting. Any suggestions on where and how to get into some bluefish?
Thanks

Blues were doin well at Rudee, but have you thought about goin after dog sharks. They are biting like crazy and fun for kids to catch.

My thoughts exactly. What kid wouldn't want to say he caught a SHARK?

If you want bluefish try around the islands at the CBBT or HRBT. But as already said the sharks would be cool for them to catch.

Rudee inlet in the back infrot of the marine science museum and infront of the marine polce docks. You could also try for croaker over at nob or the hrbt , and a report from a friend said they were doing good in the lafeyate at the first bridge

For the sharks/Dogfish: Cut squid on a bottom rig around the CH Wreck...I tore them up over there. Fun for the kids but not real fun for dad if he gets stuck by the spine (be careful). I avoid getting stuck by grabbing them FIRMLY on the back of their head while I gently remove the hook. If the kids are somewhat experienced (i.e. they keep good pressure on the fish, bend your hook barbs down to make it easier to remove the hook.

Spiney dogs! Good idea, we could do that too. What are the blues biting this time of year, what kind of rigs?

Rudee is the place you want to be.

You should be able to catch the bluefish in Rudee on 1 oz. Stingsilvers or Silver Mirrolures.
