Munchkin,

We got a real late start on saturday didn't get through lessner till almost 3, I figured you guys would be in so I didn't bother giving you a hail, guess I should have sorry.

My dad bailed on me at the last minute but I still made the trip with a friend of mine that doesn't fish much. We stayed around the first island due to the conditions. Fished around both islands and both sides of the bridge down to the small boat channel. Fed some plastic to a school of bluefish on the ocean side ot bridge looking for s striper and only managed one flounder, but it was a keeper which is one more keeper than the previous three trips this year, went 20".

Caught him fishing the corner of the rocks and sand of 2nd island on the bay side as the tube goes down into the sand on a live spot. ($2.50 a piece of LBP) One way or another got my first keeper of the seaon.

Thanks for the info at least someone got something. But it was a nice day out on the water. Now I have to get rid of this head cold before I leave for CABO.

We got out of Lynnhaven at 6 AM but the wind was blowing so hard we couldn't get out to the CBBT until almost 1pm or so.
We drifted with the tide inside the inlet for about an hour or so and caught nothin. (were looking to cast net for bait but at high tide and early in the season, there was nothing to catch - the creeks that were stuffed with finger mullet in Oct. were bare. Was like mother freakin' hubbard!) We then stuck around the mouth of the inlet after getting forced back (beaten and soaked) from the waves (curse of the flat bottomed boat). Caught a yard full of grass waiting for the wind to lay down. mad.gif We had been on the water for almost 7 hours and up to that point had caught absolutely zero.

When we finally got out to the bridge near the small boat channel, we caught a bunch of small blues (fed them a lot of lures while doing so). The croaker bite stepped up in the early evening (was the first real tug on the line I felt all day!). Then we landed a black drum ~ 12lbs on a small spinning rod biggrin.gif near the small boat channel (on a bottom rig with squid). Oh, almost forgot, the freakin' skates were relentless, my bro in law must have pulled in over 15 on the cut bunker we were using. glare.gif

No flounder, no reds, no bass - on the bright side, no sharks, no oyster toads and no dogfish!
