Fished out of OI yesterday.
Dead until 11:00am when swarmed with mahi- boated 1. 1 hour later - big pod of pilot whales appears and a NICE ball of bonitas pops up and are frantic - very nervous water. At least 15 boats -including 3 green stick commercial guys - and us pile in and we hook 7 big eyes -bang, bang, bang- the immediately pod and circle - twisting all seven lines together- we are down to a half a spool on three fifty's when three burn off, two more go down DEEP in the spool when a complete asshole in a center consol comes in on us and a charter on our side - who has five hooked - snags our fish on his boat - cutting two more off- we battle the final two and land them --about a 100 lbs each. After laying a first class OI cursing on the guy angry.gif , we regroup and re-arm and get a nice yellow fin -then an hour later another.
Good weekend though. Fri two good mahi's and two yellow fins. Mon 2 big eyes (should have had 4 angry.gif ), 2 yellow fins, 1 nice gaffer. We are now sufficently battleharded for the tuna tournament

That is all

Any idea what type or color boat cut you off?
gradyman
No, it was not he big yellow boat that looks like a banana. It was a white CC.
I've cooled off some now, I don't think the guy could really see what he was doing, as he was meeting us head-on, off the port side and may not have even known we were hooked up. As a general rule, the people fishing out of there are pretty competent and there's good seperation when there is a hook-up- just bad timing really. The real problem was we had hundreds of yards of line out on seven rods/fish in a very congested spot, which was not his fault. Well, as that say, "that's fishing" got to forget about it and move on.

Sounds like a crazy scene. Good to see you got 2 at least. That would have whipped out my fish boxes anyhow. biggrin.gif
