First trip of the year, ran out just south east of the point. Set out the first few lines when the long rigger pops , put a nice gaffer in the box. Set back up with all lines out and about 45 minuets later center line goes off, hit blue white tiki bar on a blue white shooter. Put a nice 35~40 pound YFT in the box. This was my sons first YFT which he has been after for a while now. Start to set lines back and see that the Tiki bar no longer has a bar. Make quick repair and back out. Hour later Tiki is on again, put a 50+ YFT in the box (my scale only goes to 50). Bite goes away for us so we headed North east of the Tuna hole, Green stickers working area very tight area, did not want to get in to that mix. Saw one charter with a fish on but we did not pick up any thing else for the day. Thanks Don for the Tiki bar and every one else on the board for sharing info and reports.
We were on the tuna hole and there were not that many boats, but when the bait came up - it was in a very concentrated area, so 10 or 15 boats and the green stick commercial boats you saw - did set off a quite a scrum. The green stick next to us had 4 big eyes on the danglers. We saw at least 20 big eye hook-ups on the sport boats in that small area, so it was a good school. They came to the surface twice that day - once in the am and around noon. Some guys at Pirate's Cove went 3 for 5 on the am rise and 4 for 7 on the 12:00 - one of which went 225 lbs.. A charter boat at PC went 9 for 9 - 9 rods down in 20 seconds must have been quite a sight- with 4 anglers one of which was 80 years old!
