Bottom line up front: No YFT, BFT, or dolphin. 5 for 5 on fat alberts -- that's it. Better than nothing, yes, but not much better!! Did have a nice Mako (~7 footer) on for a couple of leaps until he cut us off, taking one of Don's blue & pink mini-bars and a cedar plug along with him. Now, I've had just about everything including cobia hit Don's mini-bars while offshore.
Had a good crew and put lines in at 0730 about 5 miles east of the weather buoy. Satellite shot that morning was obscured due to clouds, so we started where the last shot showed warm water. North wind was about 15-20. Water temp was 63.5. Never found any water warmer than 64.5 degrees. Trolled east until the water started getting cooler, then did 180 and trolled back toward weather buoy until the water again started getting cooler. Finally trolled south about 5-10 miles, but never found any warmer water. Did another 180, trolled north and still couldn't find any warmer water. I think that somehow the warm water pushed farther east, but I never could find it, and like I said, the satellite shot was worthless that morning.
Anyway, we all had a good time, and maybe we'll get 'em next time. Congrats to all who were successful last weekend. The Volunteer's time is coming!!!
Tight lines...
