I am planning on coming up in 2 1/2 weeks for the croakers. Doesn anyone have any info on where the most numbers of fish are being caught? We usually fish HRBT to James rive bridge and the oyster beds up the james. Is this area still producing those big croakers? Any and all info on croakers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Little creek jetty is at the inlet at Little creek. The only public ramp is cobbs.
If your coming out of lynnhaven, I would think the small boat channel of the CBBT would have better or as good of Croaker as Little creek jetty. I would stop there first, I would also give the area around the big wooden channel marker coming out of Lynn a shot also. No point in passing over fish to find fish.

Not sure what the GPS is. It's between the first island and the beach. You will notice it due to boats drifting around on the ocean side of it. It is kind of an area. The SBC is marked with green and red lights you can see at night, and you can see them during the day if you are close enough. But you will see boats scattered all around that area fishing.
I also suggest to anyone to have a chart of the bay, or any area you want to fish.
You need one for boat and one for home so you can look at any spot you hear people talking about, it comes in very handy.
Capt sea gull charts are anywhere in most tackle shops.

Caught over 30 croakers, had to use only one pole since both would be going off almost immediately when you found the bottom. if not hit on first drop, a few jigs and wham here comes another. They were thick on Friday

We found a spot by Lamberts Point heading to HRBT caught 2-4 lbs croakers. Gonna try and find again and mark waypoints. Looks very industrial around there and didn't really think fish would b round there. Hopefully, I can find area again..

Was on the James Sunday eve.NADA.So went to wilcox on MOnday and asked for this map-They looked at me in awe and said they never heard of that charter boat. SO I Explained again that it was amap.(perhaps they didnt think that I looked like the boat owning type)Now they said "never heard of it"-still did not recommend an alternate source. I did see a 60.00 chart book lying on the floor behind the counter, but I know you can tell me an exact tackle shop that carries this so I passed. Thanks a lot.

I keep a hard copy of chesapeake bay entrance chart in the boat, but I also use the NOAA RNC charts and free viewer (http://nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/mcd/Raster/Index.htm) for more detailed maps. The electronic maps also allows you to set waypoints to measure distances for planning your trips. There are several free (Trial Versions) software programs available, I use the Global Navigation Software.

Leecm3, I have MAptech Chart Navigator and it's great. The viewer is free and you have access to all the NOAA pilot charts free as well. Sweet.

Yes the electronic charts are great for newbies like me, I just started fishing the Bay last year. When I read the forum and folks are talking about different fishing spots (C13, Latimer Shoals, etc.) I pull the charts up on my laptop to find the spots and measure the distances, see the depths as well as a wealth of other info.
