BillableOurs had to come back in a little early on Tuesday....fish box full and running low on ice. We had a great day in near perfect conditions and found the tuna! The G&H and Get Reel lure combos worked their mojo and the first bite started at 8:05, a double YFT hook-up. The water was warm all the way out from the 30 fathom line and we were in the middle of 77 degree water at the 650 line. The top water must have been fairly thin at 77 degrees because the tuna were there and there was life all over. No mahi today and never saw organized weeds near the edge which was in close and shallow. The water was a beautiful blue and flat calm. Brian (Bahast) and his crew had their hands full as all but one fish was a double! Overall 6 for 7 on YFT in the 35-40 pound class and a nice BigEye, shy of NC Citation, but 90+ pounds. We worked our own area away from the Fleet, moving from slick to slick. When we had small birds dancing on top of a slick we worked that area hard in large circles. That usually got a bite for us, or we would be in a position to see the tuna rise a hundred yards away and move over to them and get the bite there. Awesome action! If tuna came up more than a few hundred yards away they would usually sound again before we got there...be patient. Pilot Whales were everywhere. The new G&H Blue Black Red Crystal Flash Seawitch was too tasty for the BigEye, and he crashed it! Fight on. In the Box. A little later pop, pop, double hook-up on Get Reel Tiki Bars and a giant crash on the right long! That one missed but we thought we still had two BigEye on. They turned out to be some nice Yellowfin. We had the BE and 4 YFTs in the box, and had to pull out the Tuna Body Bag for the next two YFTs. We decided to turn towards home and try to find a few Mahi. No luck there, so we ran home to weigh in the BigEye and start cleaning. Great crew and fine work in the Pit! We are thankful for a stellar day on beautiful blue water. Laying by today but will be out again Thursday thru Sat. Have fishing slots for Thursday open. (757)689-2694.
Sharp hooks and tight lines!

We're riding a high right now. The hook-ups were textbook, multiples except for the one time when we only had one Tiki Bar out in the spread and trying to set the rest of the spread. We've got some repairs to do today after the fishing...missing roller guides(still landed the fish), bent bars, etc...great problems to have!! See you all soon!!!
Ktrain

I have Lean Six Sigma Training and can't make it but Scott is just getting back in town. Send me your number in a PM and I will have him give you a call.

Navy calls have to answer that phone first, you know about that.

Where in the spread do you normally run the Tiki bar(s)? Flat lines?

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,
We normally run the Tiki Bars on the Long Flats...positioned between the Flat Line and the Short Rigger.

I don't do anything with hampsters!!!!

Yeah, long flats right off the rod tips. Behind them we run single baits on the short riggers...G&H Seawitches or Shooters...good combo. You can also run one down the middle in the shotgun or if real gamey, run 3...2 long flats and a shotgun.

or 4....but who in the hell would do that ?...Bob

Billable Ours looking good! Great job. How come all the nice G & H lures you are describing are not on the web sight. Are they still in the testing proto type stage or just the private stash. Maybe I'm going to the wrong site.

I'll check with Phil and Mike to see where they hide them. They just refined them and were getting feedback...but they are definately raising fish for us. I think they just haven't added them to the site yet. Good luck!
