I'm heading out for Cobia this weekend and am on the fence as to where to fish. I have had great success fishing on the ocean side of the img, but am a little skepticle about this location with the current water temps. Do you think I'd be better off at the Hampton Bar or other locations within the bay? Thanks in advance for your insight.

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone cobia fishing at the Hampton Bar. I'll be at Bluefish Rock area.

So, in your opinion, do you think the img is a bad bet this weekend?

Probably not. I think one of the first ones of the year was caught there while someone was drum fishing. There will be a ton of boats wherever you go. Bluefish Rock has always been a good early season spot, then move out to the shoals later in the summer.
Getaway
Still a good bit early to fishing Cobia at Blue Fish Rock. They tend to be in closer to the shoreline during the month of June and then move out to the rock in July. This does not mean that none will be caught at the rock this weekend, just that many more will likely be caught off Buckroe Beach and the beach off of Grand View.
