Left Richmond 2 am with new ride , kids and friends in tow with plans to run to the Cigar area. Departed Rudee a bit behind most of the fleet to find that I would not catch up running, due to the smog bank. 15 miles out the Stb. engine started to cavitate . Examination revealed a broken tie-rod. We were able to jury-rig a fix with a socket and some leader wire, but not a repair I felt good enough about to run 40 miles further out.
We limped in over some really barren bottom and decided to work the beach front. We scratched out some nice spanish and a number of small blues. Played with at least 4 cobia, one being huge- but with no hookup. lots of rays.
Parts on order- Maybe next week! Bob B

Bob,
Sorry to hear you had problems, but you made a safe call and still got in some fishing as well. Hope the repairs go well!
Tight lines.

Bad news on the engine, but glad you didn't push it out any further. Still made a great day of fishing, though. Thanks for the report!!
