Took out a few people on the Pursuit of Happiness out of OC on Saturday. Went out Wreck/Shark fishing. Started at the Bass Grounds. Lots of boats, never marked anything on any structure and never saw a fish caught on any other boat. Headed further out to the Twin Wrecks. As soon as the first bait hit the bottom...a 19" tog! From there, we has a pick of Seabass, some legal, but a lot of shorts. This wreck was very snaggy and we lost almost every sinker over 3 ounces. The bite slowed so we hit the Great Eastern Reef site. This time there was a higher percentage of keepers. From that point on we never kept a seabass under 13". We didn't lose any tackle here, so I actually got a chance to drop a line myself. I used a 6 oz diamond jig with a Gulp minnow on a dropper. This setup got me almost 100% keepers and a bonus 25" flounder. Not much to show on the shark front. We had a Seabass live lined off the rigger that got eaten by about a 5' Sandbar Shark, but it left us the head and the hook.Total tally was 1 19" Tog, 34 Seabass up to 17" and 1 25" Flounder.
