There was a 90# slob caught over near the 16 Buoy last week. Its going to turn on after this NE`r calms down and the bay gets its color back.I also read a report about a Red one being caught over there but that is not confirmed.

You would need a whole succesion of long and lat to get the picture of the flats, since position is so important you should purchace the chart or software for the area.Notice to mariners might have the coordinates of the areas that have moved some.

I am going to use my same old maps and software my sonar will update me on any differences.I usually look for a shallow area 15 to 25 feet that is near a deeper channel. I also like the end of a pointe on a sandbar/shoal area. You had said that the shoals moved alot from the hurricane,if they have notice to mariners would be the place to find out.I think they are still pretty much the same a set of charts will get you the general idea. The shoals are always moving and shifting that is what a shoal is by nature but they are in the same area as they have been since the last iceage.

thanks for the input on the shoals/sand bars....I am sure if i get a general area and learn from there i will do ok....i know you will update you info like you said your sonar but i don't have that so i have to go off the depth finder for me which might take a minute or two to find a channel near by.....and i see you have said position is so important for these fish does this also take place with red's and in the same type area...My GPS unit has the software for the bay area on it would that work for the time or shold i still get a chart? thanks again mega you've been a big help in th past for me on info while trying ot learn all this saltwater stuff LOL.

Your purchace of the software for the bay should suffice, thats all I use most of the time. For Red Drum I fish the same general area.Use a Peeler/Clam combo on your rigs and you could catch either one.
