fished for cobia yesterday...i anchored up on a shoal and started chumming caught a few sharks and broke off three cobia..well im fairly certain the were cobia..the came up and thrashed around on top and they looked like cobia...anyone else catching any?

where were you what shoal ? im going out tommor

If they came up to the top more than likely what you were dealing with were cobia or some other "fish" as distinguished from "trash fish." Most sharks, rays and skate run straight for the bottom and stay there.

A spinner and a black tip can put on a display but you would have defently known it was a shark

im not sure what shoal it was but it was right before the high rise on the ocean side...we were in 8 to 9 foot of water.

so by 9 foot shoals i guess thanks for that

i went out today around lunch and we set up on a slik around 2 pretty near the spit (york spit) between there and the flats wasted two things of chum and saw one large cobia around 5 foot or so but wouldnt take a bait it swam throug are baits and just kept going no luck today any one do any good ?

Thats when you need a speargun sitting on board!

ive thought about that last year i had one sit under the boat but wouldnt take any thing i dont have a spear gun thow but mabey one day haha have u heard of any one doing that ?
