Went out yesterday to Fingers and related areas for the Mahi. They did not dissapoint. Figured since it was variable at 5, it would be a good day They lied again. SW at 20 all day! Put out the last line in the spread and a VERY large shark(400 or better) cuts thru the spread. Thank God it was early and he was not hungry. About 10 minutes after the shark, a sail swipes a couple of times at the wwfb bird. He did not like the green machine trailer and moved on. Then it was the greater Mahi open. Early they liked yellow and green. Later they switched to pink and naked ballyhoo. We had a large yellowfin(50 lbs) come in at 10 am and he skyed 3 times on a bait. The first was a clean miss. The second time he came up with the pink skirt in his face. We thought the line would come tight. It did not. The third time he came down right on the bait. The line came tight, but the clip did not release. Reeled it in and he had bitten it off right behind the hook. We will get him next time...
