I went on two 24 hour trips with these guys last October and November. Definitely worth the money in my opinion!!! Plenty of swordfish hook ups, and the tile fishing was excellent as well! If you don't like work, definitely bring an electric reel! When Captain Feller puts you on the tilefish, as soon as your dropper rig hits the bottom, you'll be reeling it back up from over 800 feet.. That's how it was last winter anyway. I was on two of the first three offshore overnighters on this boat and had a blast!!! I'll most likely be back again this year. DON'T FALL ASLEEP IN THE CABIN WITH YOUR LINE IN THE WATER!!! IF THAT REEL STARTS SCREEMING, I'M NOT GOING TO STAND BY AND WATCH IT GET SPOOLED!!!!! ONCE A FISH IS HOOKED, "YOUR ROD" OR NOT, DON'T EXPECT THAT FISHERMAN TO HAND IT BACK TO YOU. Last time, around 2am, most of the anglers were asleep in the cabin. I was at the bow, and I heard a reel just SCREEMING down near the port/aft cabin door!!!! I run down, alert the men/women in the cabin of what was going on trying to figure out whos rod and reel it was. By that time almost half of the line on the 6/0 was ripped!! Nobody woke up or claimed the reel. I was able to get the fish to stop its first run, and next thing I know, a guy comes out of the cabin yawning and says, " Hey man, isn't that my reel?". It was a rental rod and reel by the way. Anyway, I stopped the fish on his first run, and ended up handing it off to the guy that had been asleep in the cabin for the last few hours, who came out 10 minutes into the fight to claim his pole!!!! If you're going to fall asleep on these trips, man up and fall asleep within ear range of your clicker!!!! I WILL NEVER HAND OFF A ROD AGAIN!!! He underestimated what he was hooked into. I handed him the rod after I stopped the first run. The fish sensed something was going on and sounded under the boat!!! This gentleman didn't have 5 seconds on the reel before he was broke off!! Really it was my fault for handing off the rod in the first place. Anyway, this is a great trip, and I hope you guys and girls enjoy it!!!!!! Don't get spoiled by the quick action on the deep drop. When you anchor up and start chunking, the action will most likely slow down.. THIS IS WHEN THE REAL FISHING BEGINS!!! IT MIGHT BE A BIT BEFORE THE BITE, BUT TRUST ME, DON'T SLEEP TOO HARD ON THE DOWN TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, the only relationship I have with this charter is the two trips I took last year. It could be similar, or, it could be completely different. This is just an account of my experience during the two trips I took. I highly recommend the charter, and I hope you all have a blast this year!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope to be out there,
Ryan
Man you gotta let that go ! That trip is eating you alive !!
