After looking at the offshore forecast, decided not to go. As the day went on, & after looking at the updated forecast, decided to head out around 9:00. Ride was not bad going out, got 20 miles from our mark & saw a stomr brewing & could see it on radar. We turned back & worked the triagles. It was juse Wade & I. We set out all 8 lines & it was non stop action all day. False Albacore & bonitas all day. We did manage 1 small dolphin & over 20 of the others. We did end up w/ 2 release citations on the false albacore. ( some people will do anything for a citation!
Saturday
Hooked up with Justin (from the board), Johnny, Wade & myself. Left around 5:00 am heading to the canyon. Set the lines out around the lobster pots. Instant action! A few nice gaffers right off the bat. I gaff Wade's fish & had a blood bath. That fish sprayed me with blood. Nice, first thing. No change of clothes either. Oh well, let's get em back out! It was another nonstop action day. We lost a few fish, but got a ton of hits & a cooler full of dolphin. We worked the lobster pots and, though I hateto admit it, I did manage to just hang one w/ my blue/ white get reel tiki bar. Oh no, we are going back for that one! got lines up & went & got my tiki back! Around 1:45 - 2:00, there he is. The billfish. He was far back & couldn't tell what he was, but he was there! Stalking the next to longest line, hit it twice, but wouldn't take the hook
Final talley on the weekend:
28 dolphin
countless skippies, false albacores etc.
1 missed billfish
and 1 lobster pot
Ok, back to reality. This was our last weekend of fishng for a while.
until then, catch em up, we'll be watching the board to see how everyone does!
