a couple a weeks ago a friend and i went to the triangle to see what was there upon our arrivale we could not help but notice mahi (chickens,12-18"fish)chasing bait in every direction we looked.i had some 3 1/2" drone spoons on board so pulled them to see if they would take, and they did.tasty little fish they are.sence the storm had past i was curiuos to see if they were still there.monday morning 9/8 we headed back to the triangles only to find very dirty water.continued to push east a couple miles short of the fingers we crossed a sulfer line into prety blue water immediately deploying 2 spons on #3 planers, two spoons with 10 oz. inline trolling weights and a bird with a green machine trailing 20' behind.after a matter of only a couple minutes all 4 spoons went down and we pulled in 4 false albies releasing 3 and keeping one for bait.failed to mention that the rods we were using were penn 330 gti combos(light tackle) so those false albies put up a really good fight for rods.this action continuied strong until we see off in the distance some lumber floting sure enough it looked like marine world under it,pulled past it and again all 4 spoon went down leaving the green machine completly untouched.4 nice mahi (10lbs each)in the box, make a u-turn and again all 4 spoons go down leaving the green machine untouched putting 4 more nice mahi in the box again.make another u-turn this time only 2 spoons went down putting only 1 of the two fish in the box.made a couple more passes with no takers( guess they were on to us at this point).trolled around some more picking up a couple more false albies and calling it a day.water temp was 71.5 - 72.7, lots of life, flying fish, bait balls, turtles, ocean sun fish, beautiful conditions too!
total for the day 8 mahi 10/12lbs each
12 false albies(releasing 8) all around 20/24'' each
