Back on the troll we came across an increadible weed line on the south wall area. A real thin line of grass, but one side was Gulf Stream blue and the other Va. Beach green. There was about a 2 deg. difference in the temp too. All boats were steady hooked up no mater what side they worked. We got tired of that and decided to finish our day where we started so started to troll in that direction.
One guy (also mates and said he didn't want to reel any fish) yells that he saw a huge splash on the port long area, so as we are all straining to see "whats up" the starboard long starts screaming. No splash at all. I pick up the rod and hold on as the line never stops ripping and the fish is steadily making huge......and I mean HUGE splashes. The second that he stopped taking drag he was gone. About a 3 min fight. None of us actually saw any part of the fish but it had to be a blue and probably the largest blue Shore Thing has ever had hooked up. Oh well...makes for great story telling back at work.
Cool thing was Capt Pete's daughter got him a pink/maroon zooker for his birthday and that thing wasn't wet for about 3 min. before it put a mahi in the box. And I'll be danged if that ain't what the blue had in his mouth for a few minutes before he decided to give it back.
