Full Version: HRBT during daylight ???
Virginia Beach Sport Fishing > VBSF.net Sport Fishing Forums > Chesapeake Bay & Coastal Waters to 15 miles (Ocean City MD to Hatteras NC)

Tomorrow looks like the last nice day for a little while, so i think I am going to fish the HRBT from about 0900 to 1600 or so.
How is the fishing during the day ? Any suggestions for bait/tackle/tactics ??
I am looking for a mixed bag of rock, blues, flatties, trout, etc. Not too particular, as it will definitely be better than work !!

Try Chartreuse gulps for the flatties over by the south end near the beach, bay side. Look for the little sand bar while the current is moving. We had decent luck there a couple of weeks ago, no monsters, but we managed a few keepers.

If you go a little further to the M&M you can get your limit of striper in no time!!!! We've been slamming them!!!! Fresh menhaden on a 6/0 hook 3oz. sinker is all you need.Look for the painted markings on the concrete pilings and find 176 to 180. They are there. I,ve had my best luck about 2 hours before peak tide. Either high or low.If you can get some bunker and cut it up throw it in and watch out!!!! Let me know how it works for you!!!We've had several in the 30 - 32 inch range. And that's fun . Too bad you gotta let 'em go. It's still fun to fight them. But you'll have no problem getting your limit.TIGHT LINES AND ENJOY YOUR ROCKIN" !!!!!!!!!!!!

I would add one of them menhaden chum bags to the end of my anchor rope during the day time. Constant source of entertainment when the baitball is right behind your boat and you are throwing the bottom stuff out described above. biggrin.gif
