Started at Lynnhaven and ran up to Cape Henry - got there about 830. Marked scattered fish and very little bait all day,
Fished down to Rudee Inlet and back. At Noon picked up 2 Stripers within 10 minutes and that was it. One throw back at 24 inches and one 37 inch 24 pounder.
Believe there were small bites here and there, probably off Rudee and off Cape henry light, late in the day. yet not a big bite but scattered fish.
Caught the larger fish on a stretch 25 red and white. Changed from a blue and white and got a hit within 5 minutes and that was it. Caught the smaller striper on a chartruse umbrella rig. Got this hit running the rig back for set up.
Before you go realize that there are two regulations as of now for Stripers. The bay and the ocean are different.
Bay 1 fish only --- either 18 - 28 inches or 34 inches or greater.
ocean - 2 fish --- Anything over 28 inches.
Don't be fishing in the ocean with a slot fish from the bay --- hard to explain that to the man.
Just another note -- police were all over the interstates today. Saw 5 pull overs going east and saw them going west as well.
Heard this was also true on 95. State needs that end of year money, but also realize there are a lot of nuts driving out there that deserve the ticket. At least I saw very few problems on the ocean today - but then again I stayed out of the bee hives.
Remember - keep your cool -- worse things could happen in life. Enjoy your time on the water and with friends.
Professor out.
