Hoping for a fri-sat fishing trip earlier in the week but the weather fell short. The boys were going to get grand daddy on his first striper. Instead we stayed up late x-mas night and caught a late breakfast friday, enjoyed the day with grand daddy and new toys. Headed to va beach fri night for a day with mom and 3 boys on the bay. Boys were excited about mom being on the boat and their younger brother Ewing 6. Left lynnhaven 7:30am and set out for the ocean side of highrise to meat up with freinds on another boat. We found a nice class of fish earlier in the month and hoped to find more. We were entertained early with a few dogfish as both boats landed several dogs. First heavy hit goes to Ewing

with his brother Nolan 11 assistence. This fish hit an eel 10' under the bobber and proved to be a great fight. With team work and big brothers coaching Ewing lands his first big striper a solid 38" 28# fish. Nice thing about mom is she catches it all on video. After sorting out a few more dogs and a heavy fog, Wyatt 9 goes to battle with a 42" 38# fish. This fish fell victom to an eel off the bottom in 30' of water. Buddy boat isn,t doing well with a sick starter not kicking port engine giving him a top gps speed of 11 mph and a 3 hr. trip back to his dock in Hampton. He decides a couple of more drifts to call it a day when he has a rod double over thats not another dogfish. MK 11 is up for the challenge when we notice little brother Will 7 with a battle of his own. We now have 5 boys shouting with excitement across the bay and moms getting it all on video when I see they're both in the same fish.Their dad does a great job with the tangled lines and nets the 40# + fish. We set up on another drift and watch our buddy boat limp home. Nolan is being patient with all the dogfish and finally picks up a solid fish that looks to be the best of the day. As I was clearing lines the fish comes unbuttoned and turns out to be the last bite of the day. We were hoping to get in some trolling. But with fog and starter problems we think we did the best thing and 'caught fish'. Thanks again for all the tips and reports as we are new to this game. Will follow up with pictures later.
