Lucian aka Fishin Fool
Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm on a few other boards and was invited over by a bud to check out the site.

My name is Lucian, from Norfolk, Va.. My boat is a 31' Contender FA named Fishin Fool as many here already know.

I spent most of my life chasing palagics off Va. and NC and have caught my share.

Lately, I've been chasing varied species, flounder, stripers, golden tiles, sea bass, etc. I'm looking to get my wish list of species from Va. Swords, Va. Groupers, Va. Tarpon, Va. Barrelfish, etc. I recently crossed Alaskan Hallibut, Alaskan Ling Cod, Alaskan Yelloweyed Rockfish, Alaskan Black Rockfish, Va. Golden Tile, Blueline Tile, Wreckfish and more off my wish list, it's been a GREAT JOURNEY.

In 2005, I helped start and was the 1st pres. of the Norfolk Anglers Club (NAC).

Here are a few pics:
519 lbs in 2004 that died during a 3 1/2 hr battle standing up

Alaska 2008 a pair of Ling Cods, we fished 3 days straight limiting out every day.

They have a bigger mouth than I do

Day 1 catch

Yelloweyed Rockfish from Alaska

Jigging Amberjack on light tackle.

My bud Louis put me on this Nice Flattie (11 lbs.)

I don't claim to be a GREAT FISHERMAN, but I have fished with some great fishermen and put them on some nice fish. I hope to get a little more ROD TIME in 2009. All I need is a crew that doesn't mind it's Capt. CRANKIN on some FISH!!!

Here are a few more pics:

My Ride - 31' Contender Fa - Fishin Fool

2007 Catchin 4 Kids, we took 1st place by .04 lbs.. Now that's CLOSE

Me & Mrs. Fishin Fool with her 1st ever Black Drum, she caught it on a light spinning rod 17 lb. test power pro.

Charlies both Blue & Yellow from 2007 - SORE TIRED CREW - GREAT CREW

Welcome to the VBSF Team Lucian. You certainly provided some excellent credentials! Nice halibuts and those ling cod are ugly, but tasty. The couple of times I've been halibut fishing the rockfish season was closed, so I never got to taste those. I grew up near the Bayview section of Norfolk myself and now reside in Wilmington NC. Hope you'll come on out and play next weekend at the Frostbite Challenge. If not, then we'll see you around! Tight lines!

Welcome to the board and as was stated before it is a great site. You and I have talked before so it is nice to see you here. I was out there at the High rise thanksgiving day and you forward some photos to me. Thanks for that again. Look forward to hearing of your tales and hope to meet you at the Frostbite challenge or one of the meet and greets.

I am already liking the feel. People seem pretty friendly and I hope the flame throwers stay elsewhere.

I admit I've come in with a few fish over the years and love nothing better than putting others on a nice catch.

I am hoping to get a little CRANKIN TIME in myself this year. I hope the fuel prices stay affordable if there is such a thing. I'd hate to have to try and make a living at it.

One more thing I promise to try and avoid all the BS that goes on on other boards.

Wow, what a nice thing to say... THANK YOU!!! I do not claim to be a great fisherman, nor do I claim to know it all. I just fish for the 3 letter word, FUN!

Hope to see everyone on the water, but you won't see me much in the crowds. I prefer to GET AWAY, especially this time of year if at all possible...

I'm hoping to get my trailer out this coming week and start making repairs so I can trailer SOUTH to WARMER WATERS, looking for Screaming Drags of Palagic Tuna.

I am gonna give Jigging on light tackle a try, it'll be FUN. Most of my crew want to crank on 50's and 80's, not me, I like spinning and bait casting rods. I guess I'm just CRAZY according to them.

A bud recently accused me of bringing a knife to a gunfight when I had a big STRIPER yank my line into the pilings. I was using 4 lb test, I don't know why he was so concerned.

All in all, I like to CATCH, but I've WINCHED in my share of fish, now it's time to give them a CHANCE.

Hey Mark, I remember you... Good to see you here.. You guys really whacked a few fish that day.. It was a little slow going for us, but we managed a few nice ones by the end of the day..

I am not sure about the Frostbite, I have a family obligation on Friday, but will take a hard look tomorrow and see if I am able to pull it off.

Tight Lines and SCREAMING DRAGS!!!

Funny, I grew up in Meadowbrook Forrest on Hunters Trail, and used to run the streets as a teen in Bayview. I bet we know a lot of the same people.

You need to go back to Alaska, those Yellow eyed Rockfish are BETTER TASTING IMHO than the Ling an Hallibuts. And you know how good the Lings and Hallibuts are...

Hope to put a face to the post.

Wow! You may not consider yourself a great fisherman, but you sure are better at it than I am!

Awesome pictures, I hope I can have some like that eventually.

That marlin you have posted, is that a blue marlin @ 519 lbs! I got one this summer that was estimated at 500 lbs, and was just trying to get a comparison.

You'll enjoy this board, alot of great folks on here, that are helpful in advice and trips.

Yes it weighed 519 lbs., I caught it on a buds Donzi. I've caught bigger, but none any stronger than that one.

I am looking forward to interacting with the board and its members.

Lucian, this site is a bit different from most fishing forums. The primary difference is most (but not all) of the regular contributors have met. Knot Wish'n isn't just a name on a website, it's Todd from Knotts Island. Mega Bite is Keith, a charter captain down at the VB Fishing Center. BillableOurs isn't just the name of a boat, it's Dave, an ex Marine officer who's wife Pat loves to billfish. When you can put faces with the names and you get to know people you tend to treat them differently than you would otherwise. You'll rarely see the rude, snide remarks that seem to pervade other forums. Life is too short and I'm too old to spend time wallowing through that garbage. LOL! And another Alaska trip is always on my schedule, although I think marlin fishing off of Kona is my next out of town adventure. Typically we have a monthly get together at a local watering hole. The time and place is posted well in advance. Hope to see you at the next one.

I've been to Kona and it's a cool place to fish. Unfortunately, I didn't have a very good experience with a charter boat (lousy tackle, effort, etc.), but I'll be back again some day and hope to get on a big pointed one.

I've already met quite a few and am looking forward to meeting more.

I also put on the Catchin 4 A Cure Flounder Tournament (part of the Hampton Roads Regatta) last 2 years proceeds going to Saint Judes Hospital and a few of your members have been gracious enough to support the cause and enter. It has been a very rewarding event for me knowing the money is designated to helping kids with cancer.

Hope to see everyone at the next Watering Hole.. I'll probably be the only one actually drinking WATER!!

Hello Julie... Hope all is well...

Lucian,

Welcome aboard. Like everyone else said this is a much more friendly board and I hope it stays that way. Thats why its my favorite fishing forum board. The moderators will step in if things get out of hand, its a tough job being a good moderator and I like to give them credit for a job well done. Great Job running the St. Judes flounder tournaments, I really enjoyed participating in them for the last 2 years. Great bunch of fisherman or should I say just good people.

Bill:
THANKS for your participation on the Catchin 4 Kids Flounder Tournament, I can think of no greater cause than helping kids in need.

I'd like to comment anyone who can Moderate a site and Keep Up with all the Baloney, is OK in my books. I am getting a little tired of reading the flame wars on another board. They claim to have a policy, but in reality they don't enforce it. I think it generates hits and that seems to be all they are interested in. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK... You are also more than welcome to moderate anything I may say if needed.

Hey Trey, good to see ya. Yep that was a BACK BREAKER, but my will prevailed. I hope I never kill another, but I'll still fish for them.

You are ALWAYS WELCOME ABOARD my boat. Its been way too long since we've fished together. I'd like to get out as soon as I can get my trailer straight to sniff out a few tuna, I'd like to try jigging a few as well.

I think Kevin has the bill off that fish and last time I looked the tail was still hanging behind Rudy's. If he ever decides to let it go, tell him I'd take it, if not I'm glad it's in his hands.

Call me sometime and let's drown a few lines.

Thanks again everyone... I've already met a few behind the scenes and am looking forward to meeting more.

It's gonna be a COLD WEEKEND and I wish everyone who fishes a safe and productive day. I'll bee out there on Saturday and hope to put my crew on some quality fish. Be sure to say hi if you see me I'll be on 79, and have my cell for those who have it. I will also try to monitor 68 if it's not too CRAZY.

Oh yeah, I am letting my bud Louis drive a little so I can get a little pit and cranking time for a change... ALL ABOUT HAVING FUN!!!
