First of all I would like to thank Don, George and Dave for the great tournament they put on... It was great meeting everyone and fishing with everyone as well.
1/17 - After a long hard thought, some intel reports of fish up north and the convincing of Team Blackford to buddy boat with us, we decided to put in at Wachaprauge and head to the Northern Boundary "Maryland Line". We arrived at the boat ramp to find a low tide, ice cover boat ramp. Wow what do we do now. We grabbed a bucket from the truck and started pouring water over it melt it, which took us a hour to clear the ice from the ramp to launch the boats. Some pics are available, but the cameras froze up while trying to pics. The temp reading on the trucks were 7 degrees. We also unhooked the trailers and used a tow strap to tie off the truck dropping in the boat. I am glad we had a buddy boat. We made a way through a ice covered channel with some very skinny water. Finally made it to the inlet which is very shallow, not wide at all with breakers on both side and freezing water spray. Nice! My only thought was thanks Don for naming this the "FROSTBITE". We made it out and headed North. Fished to Wallops Island and Chincoteague Island had some nice marks that we trolled and drifted eels over them, which we managed to keep alive somehow. Later in the day Baby Ruth had headed South back towards the inlet and called us back to a bite of undersize fish, well at least we got some pull age..... Ended the day with about dozen or so short fish, that were all thrown back to grow some shoulders.
1/18 – Devastated from day one, we headed south out of Rudee..... Nothing, Nada, Niente for Team Citation. Did have one bite on a “Gus Huddleston” special, but never came tight...
We had two great "COLD" days on the water, only to hear the bite was just South of us from where we put in.... O'well that why it is called fishing! Thanks to Team Blackford for buddy boating...
Congrats to Team Backlash and Team Katherine Jeanene.
