Could someone post a picture and the specifics (size, color) of these lures everyone is pulling on 3 ways for stripers? I haven't spent more than $100 on tackle in a while and I need a fix. Thanks

They are Tomics. Boater's World, West Marine, Bass Pro - they've all got them. Mediums and Larges in red & white, green, yellow - they all work.

On Sunday, 5 of 8 fish were on the same rod with the Blue Silver metallic TOMIC combo held down by an 8 oz bullet head and 4 ounces inline.
Funny how that works out.

You'll be lucky if you can even find a Tomic anymore. Apparently the local supplier has been lost. You can order them from the Tomic website but they are extremely expensive, being that they are based in Canada and the American dollar is weak.

Do yourself a big favor when you pick some up and replace that POS hook with a big treble. Tomics are great striper lures but the hooks that come on them are junk!!!!!

Look on E-Bay. I got 3 boxes(6 per box) of the 6" in assorted colors for $15. They did not have hooks but I just went to the local tackle shop and put some hooks on them. They work great. Martin

A decent substitute that I have used is a J-Plug. They are very popular among Great Lakes fisherman targeting Salmon. I raided my dad's tackle box a couple of years ago and have caught plenty of Stripers on a Chartreuse Tigerback J-Plug.

I went to pick up some colors I was a little shy on and found the shelves in most places pretty much diminished. I was at Oceans East and asked them why and they told me the same thing about the distributors and the Jacked up price on their end. In my quest to get the (secret) color I was looking for I notices in one of the tackle shops (name not important) I was at had the all their Tomics on a clearance sale, but also noticed a difference in the hooks on tomics of the same size. Some had the good heavy duty stainless hook that I like, but some others of the same size had some wimpy stainless hooks I would never use to handle striper. Personally I prefer the single hook over a treble as long as its a good hook.
If you are buying up these clearance sale tomics just pay attention to the hooks and some had missing rings which affects the action of the lure.
I think they are good lures and I'm sure they will have this figured out by next fall when they start becoming a hot commodity again.
