had a short day on the 9 foot but productive. after picking up a couple bluefish headed out and got there around 1 and sat for about 2 1/2 hours. Just me and my mom on the boat. My mom had never caught a red but her first fish was a citation. Had three lines go down at once, got two to the boat, one 42" one 51" and lost what was probably the biggest after a 10+ minute fight. 2 fell for peelers, the other to bluefish.
Also had what I guess was a stingray (which I foolishly brought on the boat to get a picture of) tear a whole in my bolster as it was flailing about. In case anyone else gets talked into bringing one aboard, dont listen! nothing like 20+ pounds of tail and attitude flailing around your cockpit with a razor sharp barb sticking out its back. If anyone knows exactly what it was let me know, I would be interested. I know it wasnt the usual clearnosed skates Im always fighting off.
We headed in right after boating the drum as the wind picked up really quick. A guy beside us said he hooked up two cobia and I was hoping to see one on my line. Maybe next week.
