Took my Dad out flounder fishing today from about 6:00 AM until 1:30 PM. We landed approx. 20 flounder with 4 of the 20 or so being keepers. We fished the 2nd and 3rd islands primarily. The first two keepers landed were 17" and the thrid was 23". Lucky for us the best was saved for last. A 27" (8lb 3 oz) flattie! Stopped by LBP to do the paperwork on the way back in. Although I caught the citation I felt a little bad considering it hit my Dad's rod as he was getting ME a drink from the cooler. We laughed about it and were just happy to pull in our first flounder citation for 2005. Nothing beats fishing with Dad....he took me when I was a kid so now I get to repay the favor.
Trying to attach a pic of the big fish if I am able to on this site.
Take a kid fishing !

Nice flatter, er, fatty! I did the same thing, a little early father's day flounder fishing with dad and what a great trip. We caught several dozen flounder, but most weren't even close to legal. We had trouble with the sharks and skates, but only one croaker. Where did they go all of a sudden? Deeper? shallower? fryer? We did boat a few keepers including this doormat, i'm gonna try to attach a pic. Cheers again on your catch, if you care to share I'd like to know what was the bait and how much water were you in.

Great job guys! I fished with Rockin' Robin, his bride and his parents late today. We had to finish working on the truck first. Got out around 3:30-4:00 pm and fished around the 1st island. Mike's dad landed the first flounder, a 17" on the bay side of the 1st. Fished a bit more and then we got the urge to hit Chick's. Mike's dad started bringing in his line and had trouble. Drag wasn't keeping up, so buttoned down a bit and finally landed the 23" flattie. He was two for two on flounder rig with squid and the 23 was the biggest he's ever caught!! Short day on the water, but great anyway.!!!

Now that's a DOORMAT!!! Congrats on the paper, and I don't think you can beat fresh flounder in the fryer!
Any info on depth, bait, etc?

I was fishing flounder rig with cutbait/squid combo. Fished ranged from mid-30 ft to 50-ft as the tide changed.
