Went on a friend's boat today to target some striper before season's end. The menhaden are definitely here! One toss of the net in Crab Creek and several hundred 2-3" bunker were in the baitwell.

Tide was outgoing.

Went to the 2nd Island but it wasn't happening - no takers on the live bait. Tried a half hearted drift over the tube and then went to the 1st.

Caught about 10 or so 18-26" fish around the pilings off the 1st Island. As darkness fell and the current slowed, the bite got hotter and the fish bigger. Had a slob on that ran under the boat and shook the hook out mad.gif.

Large croakers were scattered in after dark as well. Of course I had to be home by 10:30 pm so we left a hot bite at 9:30 pm sad.gif sad.gif .

We also caught several short flounder between the 2nd and 3rd Islands.
