I caught a 10 in flounder on a 8 in mullet gulp at the M.M. I will not post the picture I took (just to prove to my brother I got the first fish of the year, long running contest). I only report this scrawny little throw back to piont out, IT JUST ABOUT THAT TIME!!!!

. If they are starting to show at the M.M. after a week of temps in the 60's it should be about to turn on nicely.

What is that saying???? It ain't the size of your flounder, but the motion of the ocean- or something like that. At least you got out and you beat your brother! There's nothing like a long standing rivalry to get you motivated!

Anyone know when the flounder make their appearance up the York river?

The flounder are working their way up now. I expect fish are showing up around the Amoco Pier and mouth of the York even now but fishing will be spotty for a while. I'd say in a couple of weeks, things will be looking up but give it a try if you get the chance and a nice day. Over toward the New Point Light can be good, too and not a bad run. And of course there are some artificial reefs near that I haven't tried yet- they could be holding fish. I think there is one near the entrance to Mobjack bay, isn't it?? And another south of the York. I'm just talking but I'll be there as soon as I can get freed up- April got a scheduling overload but that leaves may and june pretty well wide open. tight lines!

Thanks for the info. I'll probably try my luck out at the Coleman Bridge pier in about 3 weeks...they should be running by then!
