I just have to share this with someone. Took a Sunday afternoon ride down to Elizabeth City with the wife just for something to do. Walked out on the boardwalk at the city park and eyeballed some nice boats being launched at the ramp. One rig pulled up and the guy got out leaving the wife/girl friend to back the boat over. He "guided and advised" her while she attempted with absolutely no success to back down the ramp. I mean she had that trailer doing things we couldn't do if we tried. He apparently didn't think he could do any better because he never volunteered to take over. This went on for about 20 minutes. Once she lined up to back down one ramp and and had it going sideways over the dock towards the other ramp. Finally, the guy gets in the car and they leave. The boat never came close to getting wet. Anyone looking for a nice boat cheap might check the Elizabeth City classified adds this week.

my grandfather saw a guy get out of his truck with it either still in nuetral or reverse and the whole trailer, boat, AND truck went into the water. lol

last summer at oregon inlet ramp I watched someone pull onto their drive on trailor, but forget to strap the boat on. He then proceeded to jump in the truck and pull up, dumping his boat right onto the ramp, where it then slid back into the water. Not sure how he got it out or what the damage was to his hull, but it was pretty ugly.

I once saw a guy drive his boat/trailer to Willougby Marina the normal way (trailer attached to hitch on BACK on truck). However, when it came launch time the guy removed the trailer from the back and then proceeded to hook it to the ball he had installed on the FRONT of his truck to put it in the water !! I guess whatever works right?

laugh.gif now THAT is hilarious. Heaven knows I've seen my share of lack of trailering skills with others. Some people just shouldnt own boats laugh.gif

I saw a guy struggle for about 10 minutes and finally got out of his toyota and and asked several onlookers if they could get his rig in the water, one kind soul stepped up and backed it down the ramp in 1 try,the guy looked on like the gent was performing brain surgery,I couldn't stop laughing,I have been pretty fortunate with trailers because I had a job where I drove a 24' trailer everyday,if you dont have the experience take your rig to the back of a mall parking lot and practice til it becomes 2nd nature and then you can cackle at the greenhorns with the rest of us.

I was launching at OI with some buddys and I'm almost in the water when one of them says I'll help you and un hook ya I say fine he has a boat so I figure he knows what he's doing. I start backing up to the water again tap the brakes and the boat takes off into the water the boat was centered in the ramp and the others had the rope!! BUT TO mMY SUPRIZE THE NIMROD HAD UN-HOOKED THE BOAT ohmy.gif
He says thats how launches his boat!!!!
All I can say is I dont let anyone help that hasen't gone with me before. Lesson learned!!!
