Try setting up on tHe Hump using live eels during the next month to six weeks. Might be in for quite a surprize!!!

Hey I'm in Williamsburg and am DYING to go fishin' for Mr Brown Suit. My boat isn't big enough to get out there (safely anyway). E-mail me at terry_reece <at> hotmail.com and let's set something up. I'm free every weekend and will be more than happy to pitch in money for gas and what not.

The cobia only turned hot-and-heavy in N.C. this past week. It will be a week to ten days before they do so in the lower bay. There are a few cobia here now, but, should be plentiful within the time frame stated.

Give them a try off Back River--Grandview Beach, within 100 yds of shore.

Good Luck
Mega Bite
They have been stacking Cobia on the docks in Hatteras for the past Three weeks.I think they are here in force right now.The Big females are full of eggs ready to bust. They are all over the bay dont kid yourself.

I would have to agree that the cobia are here. Even though I didnt put one in the boat I saw about 6 over the weekend. I had one huge one stroll to within 15 feet of my chum bag but he refused to take my pitch bait. They may not be feeding as hard as we would like, but they are definatly here. Patience and you will get one.

I fished on the Rock Solid out of Oregon Inlet last Thursday, 6/16/05 and we caught 22, kept 8 up to 50#. We released larger fish. What a great day. All were caught sight casting. A sports show producer for Hot Gun Productions out of Chesapeake was on the adjacent boat, DOA, and he said he had caught a 40# Cobia fishing out of Hampton 2 weeks ago. Find 68 degree water and they will be there! Try cut menhaden on the bottom, along with eels hooked through the bottom jaw and out one eye, with 1 oz egg sinker on one and no weight on for a pitch bait. Fight them on light enough tackle and they will wear out. Winch them in on a 6/0 and larger and they will be green. If green use a big, big landing net and then club them on the deck. If you want to learn how to catch them charter Pretty Work or Rest Assured out of Lynhaven and they will teach you.

where did you go out of OI? i saw a lot of folks fishing the inlet over the weekend, but not sure where you would look for the cobes in the ocean.
