Went on a friend's boat to put some meat on the table. Started in my fav Lynnhaven Inlet spot in the general vicinity of Bubba's. We were using small spot and menhaden. Caught several dozen shorties and then put several keepers on ice. The largest was 24" and 6.5 lbs. Missed my first 2005 citation by .5 lb! Also caught a nice bluefish about 24."

Ran down to the 1st Island and drifted the ocean side for several more 20"+ keepers.

Tube was dead - 2 skates.

6 mile marker produced several shorties.

Ran back to Lynnhaven and caught several more shorties and lots of bluefish thievery.

Total harvest was 8 nice fat flounders.

What a beautiful day on the water... smile.gif

Nice flatties Billyboy....WTG. Good to see some quality ones in Lynnhaven.

Thanks. They are usually there, but you have to be willing to dedicate a day to them. Sometimes the bite is centered around low tide, sometimes high, and sometimes both.

In my opinion, live bait is the key.

I know the feeling. Went out about 3:00 PM Friday. Drifted the first island, both small boat channels and the whole of long creek until about 9:00 PM without a bite. I've been fishing here about a year now and have yet to land a keeper flatie. I think anything over 16.5" is fiction.

Only thing I could figure is the front that moved through Friday afternoon turned them off. Can't understand that. I don't stop eating when a front comes through, why should the fish? tongue.gif
