Had a trip planned for Saturday, even with the sketchy forecast we were pumped to go. I had Cheryl and Wade from Graphics Solutions, great folks, I owed them a trip for doing the preliminary design on my new boat Tattoo....also had trusty Otter and Robert Bosley of the BLue water Club riding along. I had a dozen pre-rigged Baitmasters Ballyhoo ready to go dressed up all in their G&H Sea Witches and Get Reel shooters all soldiered up in the cooler ready to roll..they were excited also !.....

We leave my house at 0300 and make it down to OIFC right around 0455 or so...Met Cheryl and Wade there who were kind enough to bring a large cooler of ice for our days catch...the wind was howling out of the South and there were only a handfull of brave small boaters getting ready to launch and find the fish for the day.....

We get loaded up and get the boat in the ramp....all ready to go I put the Yamaha 225 4 strokes in reverse to come off the trailer..something doesn't feel right on the starboard throttles...it's not engaging or giving throttle....Dam, we've got a problem.....

Pull Still Think'n back out of the water and pull the Engine cover off hoping a cable had come loose....Nope all looks good under the hood...we take the control head off the throttles and encouner a pretty seriously built control cover that pretty much says...if you open me be prepared for some serious mechanical parts...spings, gears, screws, nuts and what not.....we put the control cover back on, turn off the batteries and call it....

everybody was great, understanding that sh1t happens but that doesn't make me feel better....

we pull the boat home and drop off at Ski Boats Unltd to get her ready for our next adventure......

Heard the bite was pretty good with lots of Gaffers and good number of Tuna...a 112 pound Wahoo was landed out of Pirates cove..but everybody who went paid dearly for their catch...it was sporty and lots of rain/thunderstorms throughout the day...

So that's my weekend report....THanks to Cheryl and Wade for driving down..we'll get you out soon...Thanks to Robert Bosley for riding down with Otter and I and providing lots of good stories about the good ole days fishing out of VB and Hatteras....

Until next time.....Bob

Sorry Bob, But i would have paid money to see the look on peoples faces when you pulled in OI with that sneer on the front of the boat. Classic ! Go get em next time .

My guess is it broke about 2ft from the engine where the bend is encounted from trimming up and down. Happened all the time on the boats at work until we switched over to these Boss Hoss cables that are about 2x's the dia of standard cables and are teflon lined. They are pretty sweet and work on any manu.

Bob,

Hope it all goes well at the shop. Sure am glad it happened at the dock, but I know how you feel when people come down & something goes wrong. It sucks, but it's all part of fishing. No harm done, but it was nice to get away for a night. It was not all bad, we did still bring back some meat!!! We went to Wanchese & got us 20 lbs of shrimp & are planning a feast this evening!!!

Next time guys, still can't wait!! smilie_daumenpos.gif

I'm disappointed too Bob! Had the knives ready to go to clean the catch. Just be glad it didn't happen heading out of the inlet or in two weeks during the tourney!

I truly feel for you Bob! The preparation we put into trips has no price tag as boat ownership can be the greatest feeling when your plan comes together with great friends and good times on the flip side it can be frustration beyond the normal. If it is any consolation it was horrible conditions out there on Saturday,Looking forward to good times at the PC TT. CONCH
