BLACK ADDER
Spent the full day in the skiff Saturday. Fished Islands for black drum and spades, then to Smith Island Shoals for the legendary and,I think, fairy tale red drum. Can't hit em this year. LOTS of small trout on the shoals, and pretty much shark infested. Back to Latimer Shoals for more shark action. Late in the pm started running home and saw BadaBing fishing a piling. Ran in another half mile and pulled in to a spot i like and fished a series of pileings, busting off three sheepheads on light tackle. Moved a little and got number four on a big spinning rod and clam. My first citation sheephead! I don't know of a tougher 9 lb fish I have dealt with. Anyway, a trip saver. rolleyes.gif

I can't imagine they are stronger than a spadefish but I wouldn't mind finding out. Is the technique to fish clam right next to the CBBT pileings? Do you fish the clam off the bottom halfway up the pileing?

Any advice for novice fisherman from Minnesota. Plan on fishing from pier at Cheapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel area.

I have a medium action spinning reel/ 6 ft. rod and likely 8-10 lb. test with heavy -leader.

Any tips for novice from Minnesota on CBBT fishing from pier? I am coming next week and will bring my 6 ft. spinning reel (med. action).

Was told that bloomworms are good (guy from MD). Do I make a bottom rig or go with float on top? I have been doing a little reading and heard that size 5 or 6 hooks are good and try to use bottom rig with say swivel, egg singer and leader.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

Stephen
