Left Elizabeth City at 2:50 arrived at HI @ 5. Headed out the inlet, being a little sporty, and headed straight out about 22-25 miles. Lots of scattered weeds. Water went from 72 to 78 then back to 72 again as we headed offshore. Got 9-10 Mahi and 1 Hoo. We lost the nicest Mahi of the day on his initial run. 200lb test leader snapped. Dunno why, maybe had a gaff nick in it. The hoo was interesting. We were looking behind the boat at the baits and we saw him come out of a big swell, mouth wide open like a torpedo. Was pretty cool. Got some nice gaffers too. Great first trip on the new boat. The inlet was a little more sporty on the return trip. Back on the trailer at 12:45. Black and Purple was the color of choice today.
