Sure was great meeting so many of you guys face to face this week! What a fantastic bunch we have at VBSF!

Here's the scoop .... I enjoyed a terrific day of fishing with Captain Frank Adams, on board his 32 Regulator. Scott Adams, Larry Adams and I met Frank and Tom Dunston at Franks house in Pirates Cove around 5am. Frank and Tom had the boat loaded and ready to go. We followed Captain Bob “Still Thinking” out the inlet and made quick time to the Tuna Hole and dropped lines. The warm water had pushed out over night, it looked fishy but the water was a little chilly, 65 degrees. We worked that area for a while and then trolled east, over the edge until the temp climbed to 73. A big Bull came charging in and landed in our fish box and the skunk was gone. Frank then trolled southwest to the Point and work that area for a while. Then he trolled south of the point right along the edge. We spotted a bunch of chickens pecking hard and thought we saw a slick. We made one pass and got nothing. Frank made a tight circle or two and …. WAM! Three lines go down. A 115, 106 and 102 pound Big Eye. Lots of meat!

Wow, a 100 pound plus Big Eye on a stand-up is a hand full!

Great time… here’s a picture.

What a catch! Going 3\3 on a triple over 100# each is nice work by all. Did you ever make it to the mountains for trout? Way to go on the "Big Eye".

Thanks guys .... all the credit goes to Frank. He's been at it a long time. Franks a Manteo original, been fishing out of OI over 30 years. When you go down there look for him, he's always willing to point you in the right direction. You can usually find him at A&B Carpets, Kitty Hawk. If you need any flooring he's the MAN, "Captain Carpet". He's finish off many a boat interior also.

netman9 I was just telling Marlin Maniac & Volunteer Saturday night that my next trip needs to be the Grayson Highlands to checkout that spot you told me about.

Scott maybe I'll see you when the striper season rolls around!

Bob you need to change your VBSF board name to Marlin Sleigher!

Great job on the Bigeyes and very nice meeting you Sat afternoon at the Tiki Bar. VBSF was well represented, for sure. Best of luck with your fly fishing, but keep in mind that a small worm or piece of corn works just as well for those finiky trout. Yes, not as classy as fly fishing, but productive.

I gotta tell ya that tuna sounds way better than the boys 'snap-n-turtle' they caught and cleaned for me to cook. Need a recipe so I don't have to do this again. Those Bigeye made for a nice catch, enjoy.
