Sorry have not posted for a couple weeks even though fishing.
Had Doug and some of his friends book us for a day of fishing and I found some fill-ins. We headed out first thing heading for a nice break down South on the 400 line. We hit it with only two other boats working it and find that there is really nothing on it but a couple of gaffers and other boats are having the same results. So we move out deeper for another break and find a scattered weed line and picked at a couple more gaffers. We move back in on the other line and mention we are close to a grouper, tile and sea bass hole. So we go deep dropping for an hour and a half and wax some since tiles, groupers and sea bass. Had a large jewfish or wreckfish on for 25 minutes which chewed on an 8 pound tilefish before letting go just below the boat. Get back to trolling on the original line and pick at some more gaffers. Troll by a line grass and Keegan says he saw something boil on the left long. There were a couple boats in line behind us so I could not turn on them right away. I finally was able to turn back on it I slowed up in the tower to see some gaffers. Break out the bailing gear and start bailing 12 to 20 pounders and pulling the hooks and breaking them off. What a blast watching the guys back there getting schooled by gafgers. They were used to bailers and thought you could horse them in, but no go on that. We hooked 14 or so fish but only got 6 before they disappeared. Troll back inside and get another gaffer and miss a Wahoo on a short bite as he tried sneeking in on us. Saw him come in but no joy for us. Ended the day with a great catch and a box full fish box of meat.
