On Saturday, Bernie Sparrer fished up around buoy 42. They caught some nice flounder up to 24.5 inches long. Tricia and I ran her boat to Fisherman’s Island for a short trip. We missed one drum bite. Charles Southall was there with three teenagers on his boat. Each caught and released a big red drum.

On Sunday, we ran over 90 miles SE of Rudee Inlet. Found some warm water but not much life. We did see some mammals: porpoise, pilot whales, and some kind of big whale. We caught a few gaffer dolphin. Capt. Nolan Agner was down there with us. They ended up with 7 gaffers but lost a really big one.

Monday, I fished the morning with Bernie Sparrer. We caught a half-dozen nice puppy drum on the York River.

Hey Ken my sister lives on the Perrin River, the eastern most river on the north side of the York, i've tried fishing that area tons of times and have found little other than small croaker and small flounder, any tips for fishting the York?

There shold be some nice specks up there now.

The York can hold some nice fish. Big croaker can be found throughout the river especially up the river. There is an area they call the lumps that is good. The Amaco Dock can hold anything. The power plant has an intake. Near the mouth of the intake is a whole which can hold some nice fish, especially flounder. There are some guys who fish the weapons station pier who regularly catch citation-sized flounder. They are fishing from the pier. We used to be able to fish it from a boat when I was a kid. I don't expect you would be allowed anywhere near it now. Late summer/early fall, there are some nice spot caught in the River near Sarah's Creek. The shallows in the Tue Marsh area hold specks and puppy drum. Striped bass will be in the river all year. Small ones now. Big ones roll through in March. When there were still grey trout, we used to catch big ones at a location we called the swirls. It is an underwater pipe where the power company pumps out warm water when their big stack is working.
