Hello All! It is time for the trip to Oyster. I would like any information, if available on the croakers in that area. We normally launch from the ramp off of a dirt path...the one with them, you know, port-a-poties you can smell about a mile away! LOL ( little humor guys). I can not remember the name of that landing. And where is that "Checkered Bouy" located at exactly? We normally stay at the... I think "Pecan or Pelican Inn overnight.
Any information would be helpful. I would like to thank all of you fine people of the great State of Va for allowing us NC fisherman to share your waters and to feed our families with what we bring home. I hope that one day our waters will be productive again as they once was some twenty or so years back with croakers. Maybe one day we the real fishermen of this State can make our voices heard.

yeah....shitloads of NC boats in the James River. I ride my bike down the street to Huntington every few days just to see what's going on and I can't believe how many boats there are from NC. Why do yall all come up here? There is great fishing in the NC sound, right? Hell, I think the size limit on flounder is a little less too.

Amazing how much attention you can get with an observation obtained from ones comments.

We come to Va, because your Marine fisheries and fisherman learned to manage the stocks of fish, which allows a bounty for all and still maintain the level of fish caught year after year. Yes we have nice fishing here, but do you not get tired of fishing the same place time after time. A new perspective is healthy and allows us to learn more about each others waters and how to navigate well, which is safer for all. Those who think we from North Carolina shouldnt come there, I have this to say. If we stop coming, then you need to close your tourism industry. Do you know how much money we spend there even on a day trip. Gas, food, bait, licence for boat, ice and if there is an over nighter, Lodging. That is alot of tax dollars and goods purchased that allows VA to accomidate WE TOURISTS. Shut us off and I bet store owners and other related industries and businesses will feel the crunch, and You who complain, look in the mirror, it will be on your heads when the blame starts to emerge. I for one will not go where MY MONEY IS NOT WANTED. Lets see what dollars and cents have to show in later months, shall we?

I agree. GEEZ! What a grouch. Im sure though for whatever money you pay in gas you make up for that in the millions of croakers you take back with you. I was in the USCG stationed on the eastern shore cape charles. Sure enough every year the NC crew would be out in full force with- I am not even exagerating here- each normally would have numerous giant size 37" coolers filled to the brim with croakers. Im talking thousands of pounds! We dont mind you coming up and catching all the croaker, but dont be a jerk about it!
