1st day down and got on the water 8:00 for a short day with storms moving in the afternoon. Just N of the inlet and found all the spanish you could put in the boat. Kept 18 to eat released a bunch in the 10" - 13" range and put some over sized blues for bait in live well. After 40 mins of mack's landing as many as 5 at a time the boys are ready to go look for Mr. AJ. A quick 15 min run to the fish haven to fish the blues and a couple of pin fish for what ever eats them. Second drift and something hits a blue near the surface and has the Torium 30 screaming. Stranded wire leader fails with 8-9# of drag and gets everyone excited about the mystery fish. Get everything rigged up and try it again. This time one of the Tekota 700's is getting ripped and gave my 7 year old (assisted) the rod. Fish is going deep so I assume this is an AJ. Let the 2 older brothers work on him before putting the 40# fish in the boat. Headed back in just before the 1:00 storm hit to clean fish, boat and prepare for dinner. Will report later as the week just started with success.
