Caught a bunch of flounder using the mummichog tipped with squid. They were thick just under 10", boys had a blast with Wyatt picking up one NC keeper at 16". Gave up on the flounder and headed over to the Pamlico Sound for spanish mackerel. Brought in a few heading S with a good NE 15kt wind. Turned back and proved to be rough but the boys were busy landing fish so we continued. 1 hour later we joked about setting our boat record at 30 macks. Then approached the 40 mark and had to scramble to look up regs on keepers. 2.5 hours we had to call it quits releasing those that hit before we cleared the lines. Pack up and head in when the Yam saftey switch kicked in and throttled us down for low oil. Thought my cable had failed less than 5m from OI fishing center. Sea Tow talks me through it and has me head on in (1 hour @idle speed)meeting wife at ramp with gal that I usually keep on boat. Lesson learned as today was the day to top off gas and oil, came up 12m short on oil. Added the oil and made the run on in to Pirates Cove to start the cleaning process. Thanks to KD for his input on the flounder. Used small planer with smallest silver clark spoons. Fish didn't touch anything on lead or gold spoons so we changed to the 4 planers.

Glad the boys managed at least the one keeper flattie. Congrats on the macks- we have never gotten into them like that but they are on the 'list' to spend some more time figuring out one of these days. I just topped my oil off and put a new gallon back in the boat- your report brings home just why I have a 3 gal tank and a spare gallon on board for a 113 gallon tank. Actually, the spare gallon is also there in case I run into someone in need. I had it happen out on a lake once and was fortunate to be able to pick some up at a marina. That was just after we got the boat- another lesson learned. Your wife will now be sure to ask about the oil now that she delivered it to you at OI. Get used to hearing it and say 'Yes, dear"

Pretty work Netman! That's a tough looking crew you got there. And plenty of good eating lying on the dock!
