What would we expect to catch off the reefs off Chincoteague? And what type of bait would work best? Also what type of rigs would work best for that area? Any chance of getting Tuna or dolphin off the reefs or wrecks in that area? This is the first time we have fished that area. Have gone out of the state Park and Oyster and private ramp at Eastville in the last couple years but are going to a larger house this year at Chincoteague. will be going in about three weeks just before the pony penning.
Thanks for replies

Bluefin tuna fishing is real good out of Chincoteague. The parking lot and lumpy bottom areas are the best. Most people chunk with butterfish. We troll at the start of the bite and around mid July we chunk. Best rig for me is a spreader bar with a green machine behind it. Cedar plugs are always good also. We fished Sat. at lumpy bottom and had 3 bluefin around 20 pounds. We kept our one and released the other 2. The only thing they hit was the spreader bar.

Thanks for info don't know if we will be able to get that far out only have 22' boat hoping to fish the reefs and maybe a few miles off shore but not 20 to 25. Know of anything being caught off the reefs? would like to find something bit enough to bend the rods

I dont know of any reefs. All we do is fish offshore for tuna but I do know that sea bass, drum, and threaser sharks are in a little closer.

Acording to the Va anglers book you get where you buy license there three reefs off Chincoteague Blackfish Bank and Wachapreague Reef. Blackfish is old military vechiles, its 5.8 Nautical miles off Assateague Beach. 37. 50. 147 N 75. 15. 183W
Wachapreague is igloos and old pipe 37. 33. 030N 75. 32. 410W is pipe
Also Parramore is 8.7 miles off two ships and old barge
Wondering if any fish was on them and if so what and how to catch them
thanks for any info
