Friday:
Crew is Dad, Sean, Boyce, Wade & I.
Plan is to head out to the canyon & troll for Mahi & tuna & deep drop in the afternoon.
This is Boyce's first time ever offshore!!!Gotta get him on some fish!!
First hook up is a Dolphin, Boyce brings it on in like a pro. The seas are fishable, but close together & choppy. Bang out a few more gaffers off the lobster pots. Then it happens!! Right behind us, wesee a few birds & the porpoises are busting on the surface, going nuts. A lot different from the playful jumps you usually see. These things are feeding. We troll with them & then turn & go accross them & BAM!, it's on. Long rigger (left goes off, long rigger right goes off, but does not come tight. Sean is on the left rod (pink G&H Sea witch). Get him belted up & he fights this fish to the boat. Dad hand lines the leader for me & I prepare to gaff the fish, when out of nowhere, an unauthorized gaff man (boyce) comes in & a swing & a miss & the fish is gone!!

Saturday July 4.
We had decided not to fish today because of the beat down of 14 hours in the choppy seay on Friday, until....
I got up at around 7. Looked at the weather buoy at 8:00 at the Cigar....2.3 ft every 11 seconds!!!! Wade & I bust a move & clear Lynnhaven Inlet at 8:45 & shoot to the fingers. Lines n at 10:45. Sloooooooooooooooowwwwwww!
It was so dead, we retired the Frostbite Challenge flag, took turns napping, had bologna breakfast & lunch sandwiches & caught some rays from the sun. Ended up at the tip of the Cigar. Started running in & put lines back in around Wayne's World & got 1 gaffer on. He jumps a few times & spits the hook
Can't wait till next week!
Cheryl & Wade
