Ron (Owner Southern Belle) asked me to run the boat for him on Saturday the Fourth of July! He wanted to fish the 100 and 100 line. We ran out in great conditions and land in what looks to be the Mother Load! I see a huge pod of Two Tones with Frigate birds hovering all over them. Get lines out and work them for two hours with Bill Richardson to get one nice 40# YFT and a drifter bite that does not come tight. No one got a bite out of these guys and I cannot believe it. I found them from 300 fathoms to 40 fathoms in big pods! We pick up a few free range gaffers and one that was under a clean styro foam plate. Pays to check every piece of trash out there when it is slow. After listening to little success for most out where we were I pick up and run to the Hot Dog for a chance at a Bluefin. Well I can here on the radio that there was a good BFT bite somewhere up North from us but stayed on the Hot Dog and picked up a nice 35# BFT which Ron's son reeled in. What was nice is it was his Birth Day, yep 4th of July, and he catches a nice BFT!
Well off for a day and then back to OI for a charter on Succession!
