Joe (Warrior Owner) talked on Thursday that Friday might be a great day to head offshore. So he put some friends together for some VB Offshore fishing. We head out to the 21 Fathom Fingers to check out the grounds where bait has been and some marlin were seen and caught earlier in the week. Well to say the grounds were dead is an understatement. We troll across Wayne’s World and towards the deep. We did get a couple gaffers off a buoy, but things were really slow. I switched out the spread a little just in case we found some billed creatures. Well around 2:00 we have our first encounter. A mystery fish crashes the Black/Purple Sea Star on the flat then Tim gets the rod as I ask him to hold it high to see what it was. Sure enough I see a white come behind it and move the naked flat over and get Tim to bring in the sea star. She comes in and I get her hooked up for Joe (Guest) and "Game on". This was a real nice white and after a good fight she comes to the boat. She was a good 60 to 65# class White. Lines back in and I notice the sea has come to life with frigates and turns all around us. Joe stays in the area and 15 minutes later a second White comes in on the Express on the Short as try to move the naked over the White goes to the Blue/White sea star in the short shot gun. Joe drops back and it looks like we have our second White when it comes unglued. Get another gaffer and head home. Great day on the water with some real great folks.
