Lines in @ 0645 at 21 Fathom Finger. Had 2 knockdowns right away, but neither came tight. Then they got lockjaw. Good marks everywhere, I mean everywhere, but nothing would hit anything. Trolled all the way to the Canyon, and, again, marks everywhere the entire way, but not one knockdown. Finally get first fish at about 1500 hrs (3 pm), which was a 5 foot Mako, then had a White Marlin on for a short while, but it got off after it skyed a couple of times. Since fishing began to pick up, I asked the guys if they wanted to stay, or get back in at reasonable time. Everyone agreed to stay, so we continured fishing the Canyon until about 1900 hrs (7 pm). Final tally: 1 five foot Mako; 2 Yellowfin (30# and 60#), and one Mahi (15#). Green & yellow Sea Witches and blue & white Sea Witches with medium ballyhoos were the hot baits.
Made for a long day, for sure, but everyone got some pullage, and it was really cool to watch all the different fireworks displays from the middle of the bay as we headed home to Poquoson in the dark. My apologies to Team BillableOurs for the false alarm, but one of the guys was supposed to tell his wife when he called her to notify Winette that we were going to be late. Obviously, that communication did not occur, but we were fine, just tardy. Really, really tardy!!!

Great job on the fish! We just got concerned with the late call and confusion about the plan...glad it all worked out. Bet you owe someone a Candlelight dinner though.

Not a bad idea, Dave -- I'll do it! Leave it to the USMC to provide the USAF marriage counseling!!!

As much as I like you, Don, a candlelight dinner for you is absolutely out of the question!

Great job guys!!! We we're out there beside you, and chating for a while!! We'll be heading out this Monday for another trip!! Maybe we can get my son back on a White Marlin. He had one on for about 5 minutes 3 jumps then off he went. Pretty exciting for us all!!

Yeah Man!! Catch 'em up! Enjoyed chatting with you, too, and looking forward to doing it again this coming weekend. Stayed in the Bay this past weekend hitting the flounder bite. See Bay forum for that report.
