Went offshore VA BCH Wed with some friends and the girlfriend. Looked for the Bluefin for a while to no avail, so then decided to hunt Mahi and see if we could come across some YFT to throw in the mix.
Had a blast nailing the Mahi. All good size gaffers. Up to 25#. The girlfriend even brought in her first Mahi.
Tuna action appeared slow from the radio, and I did not spot any. But, with the freezer chock full of Tuna from the prior trips, it was nice to add another species to the mix.
We ended up with a dozen or so in the box by the time we called it quits.
Hit the 26mile hill to start and man it looked like striper season out there!!! Counted at least 30 boats. No action there except for a skippy, so we did not spend much time there with all those boats.
Good luck to all those in the tournament this weekend. With all the fishing I have done lately, my friends and I decided not to give it a go.
