Fished with Neal klar...(Wirebender) and Mark, Hunter and antoher buddy Marcus yesterday. We had billfish on the brain and when you focus on a goal...it can happen and did yesterday. Fishing the 040/799, the right short (a lure) gets popped out of the outrigger. Neal tells me to leave it and see what happens. As soon as the lure resurfaced to do its normal chugging...BAM!!! Off it goes screaming line on an 80 wide. Mark gets in teh chair as I hand him the rod, neal sees the fish greyhounding...BLUE MARLIN!!! fight goes on for about 30 mintues. We get the fish boatside for my first billing of a Blue Marlin and remove the hook that was only on its bill, get the fish swimming good and off he goes to fight again!!
Hunter was the man with some really nice gafer mahi to 20 plus pounds. We end the day with 6. The white marlin bite was going off beind the Cigar in 50 fathoms in the afternoon! A few boats returned with multiples. We had one on for a bit, but it came unbuttoned.
Great job and thanks to Neal, Mark, Hunter and Marcus..Awesome times and truly a BLUE MARLIN DAY!!
Vid coming soon!!

Outstanding! My "man in the blue suit" is still wandering around out there somewhere, but I've got a special place on my wall reserved for my release citation. Right now it only says, "coming soon to a wall near you".

Thanks everyone and thanks most of all to Neal. He did a great job in getting us on this fish fast so we could get a good release. HUnter was even hooked to a white for a minute or so before he came off. A day that I will cherish for a long time.
Don great work on the video and getting a good release.
Neal you are the man and getting Hunter hooked to a white has only made him more determined to get that first marlin.
Thanks again.....to everyone else KARMA is alive and well....Thanks Otter the first round is on me the next time we are together.

Mark, You did a great job on the rod, and Don did a great job not showing the pucker factor I know he was experiencing. I am still kicking my self for loosing the white because that would have been VERY cool you getting your first blue and he getting his first white on the same trip. Not many opportunities for something like that, so sorry, but it was a great time anyway. He reminds me a lot of myself at 9. Another one brainwashed for life
You all are welcome anyime to try again for the white.
