We untied the Egg at about 8;30 am and pullerd out of Oyster harbor with a repeat crew from NJ. We cleared the inlet and wound up the cats heading for the 26 mile hill...upon arriving a few boats were working it so we gave it an hour of work and werent impressed with what we saw..a few marks down deep but not worth hanging in. Then we headed to the "g" buoys and rode a couple circles aound there and we slowly were losing our crew to that green chalky appearence. (you know).By 1:00pm we had no fish in the box and they wanted to leave for land...Dad and I talked them into sticking it out some more as the seas were calming down. Ok,heading to the canyon now..have 4 knock downs and one comes to the transom..yft..small but fish in the box...worked the south wall...worked the north wall..head back to the buoys and pick up 2 big gaffers on the way..get tothe buoys and here comes mister whitey, one swing and he misses and I drop back to him and game on, 10 minutes later I got a bill in my grasp...now the crew is coming back to life. (thank god) because I wanna stay the night but they dont.(there call will decide) Now we slowly make our way back to the canyon and pick up another yft...seas are nothing now and crew decides that they will spend the night now.Got on the hook on the south wall and we caught countless Blue sharks and I thought we had a good hook up on one screeming reel and it turned out to be a 6ft Hammerhead....we did manage another 2 gaffers on the chunk through the night but no tuna.
Daylight we get back on troll and head back to buoys on the troll and halfway there we hook up to anther White marlin, but after a short time he pulls loose and gives us afew parting leaps as we stand there with a limp line. Picked up 2 more gaffers at the buoys and call it a day. Lots of life in the lights at night..had a lot of Live squid that was doing most of the catchin for us. Beautiful night oput there, we never saw another boat all night. I made this as fast as I could before I fall asleep..beenup since 2am Sat morn for the drive to the shore and just got home at 9:30 sun nite...good night. Dale
