Fished for bait at the dock for a while & went to the first island to try for some flounder. Boated 3 with 1 being a keeper. Had the chance to see an aircraft carrier coming to port w/ all of the servicemen & women on deck. First time I had seen that up close. Get ready for Sunday.
Sunday:
We don't do Sunday offshore trips because we go back to Richmond, but the weather looked too good, so Wade & I load up & head out just as the sun comes up with plans to be back in around 5pm.
Stop short of the tip of the canyon, lines in at 8:15, by 8:30, we have 2 nice dolphin in the box!! The first fish flips off the gaff & blood everywhere!! Have several hits & a double again. Lose 1 to a swivel malfunction & the other spits the hook
. Have several short bites. Long rigger goes off & I get to it & gone, I drop it back & reel it up a few times....gone. So I start reeling as fast as I can to get the baits changed when BAM! Nice dolphin hits it. Get the fish in the boat, I thought for sure it was paper. Came up a little short, Right at 22 lbs. The biggest dolphin I have ever caught. 
Quit getting bites & head for a few lobster pots & nothing at the canyon, went back to the tip with only 1 more bite, but not coming tight. Wade & I head in & end the day with 4 nice Dolphin & my personal best!!
