I'll be spending the week on the eastern shore - is there a ramp with parking close to the cell? Last time I went there from Cape Charles. I'd like to shorten the trip with the forecasted southwesterly winds.
I also may be forced to fish the Oyster side a bit - I hear about the croaker and occasional tarpon but it should be great speckled trout and puppy drum given the looks of the area. Anyone have experience with fishing there this time of year? My freezer is full of croaker now and would like to try flounder and other species.
Any advice is appreciated.

The flounder fishing from oyster, wachapreague and kiptopeke is great through the summer. The waterways at the 1st two however can be skinny and tricky so be VERY cautious until you figure your way around from either location. Depending on wind direction you also have the alternatives of the ramps at Kiptopeke state park and one at the federal wildlife preserve that puts you out between the shore and fisherman's island, down below oyster. If it really blows, you can still catch some fish here without getting beat to death. I don't know about the ramps close to the cell but someone else will chime in, I am sure.
